Science communication is key to public acceptance, innovation
Genetic improvement, particularly improvements related to animal production, has been one of the most transformational agricultural advancements in our history. The breeding of healthier, more productive livestock has been achieved through genetic selection over the course of time, both through natural genetic selection and through increased use of artificial insemination.

UGA professor works with producers, students to improve cattle production in Georgia

UGA Meat Dawgs win national championship
The Meat Dawgs, the University of Georgia’s meat judging team, won the national title at the National High Plains Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest in Friona, Texas, on Oct. 30, cementing a successful return of the team after 10 years.

Meat Dawgs keep up high performance, aim to win title Oct. 30
The Meat Dawgs, the University of Georgia’s meat judging team, continued their high-performance streak with a second place win at the American Royal meat judging competition on Oct. 16 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Growing the future of medicine
While current medicine can slow down the progression of many diseases, the relatively new field of regenerative biology uses stem cells and advanced therapies to treat or reverse the course of disease and injuries. The Regenerative Bioscience Center at the University of Georgia has become a leader in this field.

Brooks Lecture and Awards, to be held Nov. 8 at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel.
