UGA celebrates faculty accomplishments in public service and outreach
Six University of Georgia faculty received awards Monday for their commitment to public service and outreach. The awards were presented at the 32nd Annual Public Service and Outreach Meeting and Awards Luncheon, held at the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel.

Thomas F. Rodgers Administration Building named in honor of former 4-H leader
Georgia 4-H dedicated the Thomas F. Rodgers Administration Building at Rock Eagle 4-H Center to honor former Georgia 4-H state leader Tom Rodgers for his years of service to 4-H and University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. During his tenure as Georgia 4-H leader, Rodgers championed the renovation of the Rock Eagle 4-H Center, raising more than $2 million to secure Rock Eagle’s status as a centerpiece of Georgia 4-H.

Three UGA professors appointed to serve on international food safety committee
Three University of Georgia professors from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences have been appointed to serve on Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meetings on Microbiological Risk Assessment (JEMRA). Chosen by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO) secretariats and external referees, Faith Critzer, Abhinav Mishra and Todd Callaway will serve among a roster of experts from 33 countries.

Business, Extension leaders selected for Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame
An innovator in agribusiness and an exemplary public servant in Extension will be inducted into the Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame on April 29 during the 67th University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Alumni Association Awards in Athens.

Three UGA faculty members receive 2023 Russell Awards
The University of Georgia has recognized three faculty members with the Russell Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, the university’s highest early career teaching honor for outstanding and innovative instruction. The 2023 Russell Award recipients are Gino D’Angelo in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, Jillian Bohlen in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and Krista Capps in the Odum School of Ecology.

Stice, He named UGA’s first two Regents’ Entrepreneurs
The University System of Georgia Board of Regents approved two University of Georgia professors as Regents’ Entrepreneurs at its Dec. 1 meeting. Professors Steven Stice and Biao He, from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and College of Veterinary Medicine, respectively, are the first two UGA selections for a designation that was adopted by the board in February 2022.
