MeatDawgs WIN!


The meat judging team enjoyed a very successful trip out to Hereford, TX where they were named Champion Division A Team! This is the meat judging program’s first win in over 10 years! The team traveled 3,524 miles to Caviness Beef Packers, who hosted the first annual South Plains Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest. The team dominated by winning four of the seven divisions including beef judging, pork judging, total beef, and total questions. The team also placed second in total placings and third in beef grading.

  • The MeatDawgs won numerous individual awards with Levi Martin being named high individual overall while placing second in beef grading and fifth in pork judging.
  • Clint Lee was named fifth high individual overall, placing fifth in beef grading, and fifth in total placings.
  • Preston Nave was named high individual in total placings, second in beef judging, second in pork judging, and third in total questions.
  • Anna Unger was named high individual in pork judging and fourth in total questions.
  •  In the alternate contest, Cason Galloway was named third high individual, and Marin Lonnee was name seventh high individual.

The team will conclude spring contests by traveling to Houston, Texas for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s annual contest held on March 5th.
