Daisy Campbell Rhodes Scholarship
This year’s Daisy Campbell Rhodes Scholarship recipients are Zaharia Selman and Emileigh Crouch.
Zaharia is finishing up her Animal Science major at UGA this summer. Her activities and awards include:
- Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences

- CAES Young Scholars Program
- Maryland Thoroughbred Career Program
- Butterfly Dreams Farm Therapeutic Riding Program
- Dean’s List
Zaharia has said that she wants to distinguish herself between those who are good and those who are amazing in the animal science field. She has thoroughly enjoyed learning about animal communication, behavior, and training. Zaharia hopes to pursue her graduate degree at Emory University.
Emileigh has completed her final semester as an Animal Science major. Her activities and awards include:
- Animal Rescue Foundation & Friends – Founder and Vice President
- GCSU Pre-Vet Club
- UGA Pre-Vet Club
- Rescue Paws
- Dairy Science Club
- Block and Bridle Club
In addition to the university activities, Emileigh has given more than 300 hours of herself to animal shelters. She has worked at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital and UGA Teaching Dairy. She has been a research assistant with the Department of Animal & Dairy Science this past year. Emileigh’s passion is reproductive physiology and wants to center her career around that passion.
