Georgia Dairy Memorial Scholarship

This year’s Georgia Dairy Memorial Scholarship recipients are Brenna Gassman, Courtney Alex Schlottman, Miralee Shaffer, and Tate Hunda.

Brenna Gassman is finishing up her third year at UGA and is double majoring in Animal Science and Dairy Science.  Brenna’s activities and accomplishments include:

  • Georgia Certificate of Merit
  • Dean’s List
  • Dairy Show Team Chair

Currently, Brenna works at Smalley’s Animal Hospital and is a student worker at the UGA Teaching Dairy. Through the opportunities provided to Brenna, she has found a passion for working with dairy cattle. Her long-standing passion for medicine, as well as an interest in cattle, has led to her ambition of becoming a veterinary pathologist.

Alex Schlottman is finishing up her third year at UGA. Her major is Animal Science. Alex’s activities and accomplishments include:

Currently, Alex works at Thompson’s Veterinarian Service. Becoming a veterinarian has always been a dream of hers. She enjoys working with and on large animals and realized that she wanted to specialize and work with dairy and beef cattle. Alex hopes to earn her doctorate in bovine veterinary medicine.

Miralee Shaffer is finishing up her third year at UGA and is double majoring in Animal Science and Dairy Science. Miralee’s activities and accomplishments include:

Currently, Miralee works at Smalley’s Animal Hospital and the UGA Teaching Dairy as well as holds the title of Dairy Show Team Chair. When Miralee came to UGA, she did not expect that she would want to work with cattle. However, through the opportunities provided, she found a passion for working with dairy cattle. Miralee still has a long-standing passion for medicine as well as an interest in cattle which has led to an ambition to become a veterinary pathologist.

Tate Hudson has been highlighted on a separate page after being awarded the 2022 Nesbitt-Flatt Outstanding Senior for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
