Biography


Dr. Kari Turner received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Florida, and then went on to Virginia Tech for her Master of Science with an emphasis in equine exercise physiology and nutrition. She completed her doctorate at Michigan State University, specializing in animal nutrition. Following completion of her doctorate, she accepted a position in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science at UGA. Dr. Turner is currently an Associate Professor and instructs 3-5 courses per semester focusing on a wide variety of topics, including equine exercise physiology and companion animal care. She is a Co-Director for the CAES Japan and Spain study abroad programs. Dr. Turner is also one of the Equine Extension Specialists and provides support to youth programs such as the 4-H State Hippology Contest and the State 4-H Horse Show. In her spare time pre-kids, Dr. Turner actively competed in National Reining Horse Association shows. Currently she and her family run a herd of registered Angus alongside their horses, and she can be found supporting her kids from the sidelines while they show cattle and horses, and play a variety of sports.
